Should fast or slow charging be chosen for charging stations used in new power vehicles?

Most new energy vehicles have two types of charging ports, one is a fast charging port and the other is a slow charging port. So, what is the difference between these two types of charging, and which charging method is better?

The fast charging port has 9 circular holes and is used to connect the charging gun to the DC charging station. Fast charging is obviously about quickly charging the car, which is more friendly for users who want to quickly charge the car. Basically, they can fully charge a depleted battery within an hour. The slow charging port has 7 circular holes for connecting the charging gun of the AC charging station. Slow charging naturally means that the charging is relatively slow, and it takes several hours to fully charge the car.

From the perspective of charging time, many people think that it is natural to choose fast and good charging, after all, no one wants to waste time on charging. But in fact, fast charging cannot fully charge the battery, as there is more virtual charge inside the battery. Slow charging can fully charge the battery to 100%, with almost no virtual charge.

However, the large virtual charge generated by fast charging is not the biggest drawback, as it shortens the battery's lifespan. For new energy vehicles, the length of battery life depends on the length of the vehicle's lifespan, after all, the price of replacing a battery is basically equivalent to replacing a new car.

The reason why fast charging can shorten battery life is that the current generated by fast charging is greater than that of slow charging. Therefore, during the charging process, the battery will generate high temperature, which will accelerate battery aging, shorten battery service life, and even lead to frequent battery failures. If fast charging mode is used to charge in a long-term power loss situation, even the best battery cannot withstand such a hassle, and the battery is basically not far from being scrapped.

Therefore, if you are not in a hurry to use the car, it is better to choose slow charging. In addition, do not wait until the battery runs out before charging the car. Try to find a charging station to charge the car when the battery is still between 20% and 30%. Of course, if you want convenient charging, you can also install an AC charging station in your own parking space.
